I've been trying to figure out when McKinley's next appointment will be. The last time we saw Dr. Williams was last May. I thought they wanted to see her back 6 months after that, but they never called to schedule an appointment. I wasn't too worried about it, because she's doing just fine and we monitor her pretty closely anyway. But I've been trying to call and figure out when the next time she needs to come in, and I can't even get through the menu!!! Anyone have some brilliant tips for me?

I wish I had the answers for you. Even though it has been years since I have been down that road, I totally have empathy for you as I too experienced that same issue with trying to talk with someone and couldn't get through. On a rare occasion when in fact I did get a receptionist on the phone, I didn't appreciate the way I was treated or talked "down" to. If I could have reached through the phone line and strangled the receptionist on the other side. . .I would have!

I am hopeful someone can give you a tip to help you out.

When we went in for Jack's appointment on Monday we were told we needed to come back in 4 months, but when I went to schedule it they said they only do the calendar out three months and that I needed to call at the beginning of next month to make that appointment. Since it's not an emergency, just try calling and setting up an appointment. If I recall, on the menu you want 2, and 2.

Or you could try emailing your doctor directly and asking him when she needs to be seen.

I never even thought of emailing! Duh.....now I'll just have to try to track down his email address. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hey! The same thing happened to me! I just called up and they said "Oh- yeah! She IS supposed to have an appointment" and then scheduled it right then. Maybe the schedule got mixed up this month? Juliet's seeing Dr. Williams this month- the 20th, and I called on the 10th.

I do this to help me remember to set up a appointment: when I get home from the doctors I write a note on my calendar on the date 6 weeks before they wanted to see my son to call to set up the next appointment . That way when I get to that month on the calendar I remember to call and schedule something.

Also, I usually get a reminder card from Cardiology in the mail to call and set up an appointment about a month before Jacob is supposed to be seen.

When I have had a hard time getting through the cardiology phone menu I have called the main number for Primary's and asked to be transferred to an actual person (either a nurse or the receptionist depending on why I was calling).

Good luck and I hope you were able to get something scheduled!

I did manage to get through yesterday. I told her that no one had called to schedule anything (we usually see Dr. Williams in Pocatello, so the clinic there usually calls to schedule us). She said that Kinley was noted for an appointment in JULY!! She felt really bad that no one had called. Really not a big deal. If we'd have had any concerns we'd have called sooner.

Anyway, I got the number for the Pocatello clinic and we have an appointment May 11.
