Utah County is now out of H1N1 except for under 2 year olds and pregnant women. I waited in line for 2 hours to get our shots. Crazy!

I think Davis county will be out of them quickly, if they aren't already. Russ spent over 2 hours today waiting to get the shots for most of our kids. I stayed home with one who is sick. Took her to the dr after he got back to find out that she has the flu (he said 99.9% chance it's swine flu). My oldest two were sick this week and the flu test came back negative for them, but strep came back positive. I'm starting to think that they got a false negative on that one. Dylan has had a little bit of a cough and a runny nose but luckliy that's it. Hopefully that's as far as it will go for him. Just feel a little bad Russ spent so much time in line when he probably didn't need to at this point. Ah well.

Brinley just received her H1N1 shot from her local pediatrician...she was on a short list to receive it due to her heart condition. I know they don't have alot of shots and our kids should be one of the first to get it if you want one. Please ask your doctors when they will be getting them.

Hi everyone,
We asked our pediat. about the shot and he said that it's only given in public places. Now, is that true? Does anybody know if PCMC offers the vaccine? I'm not worried about myself, but, it really surprises me that we have to go and stay in line with our heart kid for hours.

I 1st talked to my peds nurse, who gave me the run around later to find out the ped was out of town, so I called the health department and they were out(weber/morgan), and I wasn't going to take Kylie down there anyways, so I called my ped on his cell and he knows the situation with Kylie and how high risk she is, he told me that they only received 20 doses of the injectable H1N1 for employees, but because of Kylie they "found" her one. They did tell me they will not get anymore because people are acting crazy and demanding the shot, when I took the boys in for the mist, they only had 11 doses left, but again they are so good to us because of Kylie they saved 2 for them. I didn't get me and my hubs the vac because of shortage. So maybe if you call the ped back or call other offices. I don't think it’s fair to wait in line for that long and not be guaranteed a shot. Sorry, I know I was about in tears trying to figure this out. Oh and they told me Kylie needs a booster in 30 days. So I hope we can find that LOL!

Our pediatrician's office had a few H1N1 mists left over after employees that they saved for the high risk families. I was offered them for all 3 of my children, but wanted the shot version instead.
So call your pediatrician first and see if they have any. I haven't talked to cardiology to see if they have access to any but that might be an option too. Good luck!

I did manage to get it for Emma at the Health Department, but I didn't get it for Triston, who is heart healthy but has asthma. So if anyone hears of some vaccines coming available in Salt Lake County, please let me know.

Primary Children's did have some available last week when I was there for Elaina's Cardiology appointment. They require a "referral" from a doctor in order to get one. I was able to have Dr Gray give us that referral, and we were just able to go down the hall and get Elaina her shot. It might be worth calling Cardiology to see if that would still be an option. I know I'd rather take my heart baby to PCMC than wait in a line at the Health Department! Good luck!

I just took my 2 yr old daughter to get the regular flu shot at her Pediatrician. As soon as the nurse saw me (6 mo's pregnant ...you can't mistake it), she went ahead and gave me the H1N1 shot. But, because our 2 yr old isn't sick or in a high risk category, they wouldn't give it to her.

I would agree it's worth a call to the Pediatrician -- but you may have to do some sweet-talking to get the shot out of them!!
