Okay so I can get the award for the stupid question of the year: I am wondering if I need to take into account Emma's heart defect in getting her ears peirced? I wasn't going to get them done until she was older, but then my friends have been telling me to do it while she is too little to be scared and while I can care for them easily until they heal.

We asked the same question at Brinley's last appointment and we were told that when she was younger and in between surgeries that we shouldn't get them done because of the risk of infection...but now that she is older Dr. Su told us that it was up to us if we wanted to get them done, but that he was still in favor of us not getting them done...he asked us if it was necessary...I guess he was sending a mixed message. I would just consulted your cardiologist...:)

Not stupid at all. With Kylie being my 1st and only girl, I asked the same question. I am all for it, but when we found out about her heart :( plans changed. I go into cardiology on Monday 31st and that question is on my list. I did ask after she was born, I asked Linda the cardiothorasic NP and she really didn't say much, I figured the infection thing also! I go into the ped for 1 year on Thursday and am going to ask then. It's not a big deal, but I would like to get it done early. I think it's just too cute! So I will post back after Monday if you want.

Let me know what you hear. I am going on the 17th for her next cardiology and 1 year in October. I will share what I am told. Our pediatrician is more cautious than our cardiologist so I am interested in what she has to say.

Thanks Chrissie! Dr. P is our Dr. too. I would think that they would be more likely to get infected when they are older and don't take care of them. Right now us Mommies can do all the work. I hope everything else with the appointment went well!
