I don't know if any of you have this problem with your little one who has an NG tube but Gracie has the most awful bad breath. After some research and talking to her doctor I learned that it isn't uncommon to have bad breath with prolonged use of an NG tube, so I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and what you have done to help it. The little pink swaps from the hospital just don't do much even when used ever 4 hours.

We used the mouth moisturizer (http://www.amazon.com/Sage-Moisturizer-Protects-Moisturizes-Tissue/dp/B0015TCPMQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1244700989&sr=8-2) they use in the picu.
Most of her bad breath was from her reflux. So yours might be different. Usually a rinse with water on the pink sponge and then the mouth moisturizer on her lips took care of any bad smells. I have seen the nurses put the mouth moisturizer everywhere in the mouth, too. It smells minty.

Kyler is G-tube fed, but his Nissen has been compromised. He gets HORRIBLE bad breath. He also throws up a lot too (due to reflux). He is older, so we can brush his teeth (if he allows us that haha....Kyler doesn't eat by mouth) In the hospital we just used those pink sponges. I found that if I kept his mouth moist it didn't smell as bad. Sorry you are experiencing that! Good luck in finding a cure....let us know if you do! =)
